news from the countryside

She thinks she is taking a picture with my pedometer. She is obsessed with taking pictures.

We had a contractor come out to give us an estimate for our roof. $4000. Quite a bit more than the $200 that the insurance gave us to repair it. What an insult. So we are counting the days that it will take for an adjuster to come out.

Today is DAY 3 and counting...

*****

Yesterday was a fiasco. We were to have our yearly family photo taken. HA. It never happened.

I called and got an 11:30 appt. We got there at 11:20. There were 2 people in front of us when we got there.

At 1:30, we were finally next in line. So we started getting dressed. RD in his tux, GBK in her flower girl dress and I in my bridesmaid dress. Did we ever look smashing!

While the person in front of us was checking out and paying, RD was obsessing over the fact that his shirt was too big (I told him to try it on before we left the house!!!) and GBK was running around the store burning off energy. She was trying so hard to be so good those 2 1/2 hours that we had waited...

at 1:45 we still had not been called back and GBK ripped her flower girl dress!!!

Read that last line again.
One more time.

Now you understand why I had a nevous break down. I went to the dressing room, changed my clothes, ripped GBK's clothes off until she was nearly naked. I grabbed everything we had and left the building.

Of course, RD and I exchanged a few words and we nearly divorced over the whole situation. It was ugly, people!

So here we are. Still no family portrait. GBK and I may have to go alone. RD had wasted a whole day of work on pictures that never happened. For that I feel bad. But that was out of my control.

The afternoon was even more bizarre. But that is for a later post.

I just heard a weird sound that sounded like a plane crashing in our back yard. I better go investigate.

Torn dress? TORN DRESS? What is the end of the story? Was it minor or major? Did you stitch it right up? *Wringing hands* All my mother angst is right there under the surface, ready to come out at a moment's notice.

Get someone to take some shots of the three of you at the wedding - all relaxed and beautiful. I bet you can get a winner, and/or one that will have a whole story behind it.

As I type I am looking at a portrait of Bethany we had made when she was two for the express purpose of showing off this incredible gossamer dress, but she was not happy about the escapade and her eyes are all pink from crying. Sometimes it's just not worth it.

Good Lord, woman, don't leave us hanging! What was the crash sound?! That picture is TOO adorable. Give the GBK a disposable camera and let her snap away at the wedding...she might surprise you. :)
